Helena De Beul

Helena De Beul graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Ghent in 1998 with highest distinction as Master of Music, classical guitar option. That same year, she won the International Yamaha Competition for classical guitar. She then went on to perfect herself with Odair Assad of the legendary Assad Brothers, where she obtained the Diplome Superieur avec Distinction in 2002 and worked as a visiting professor of accompaniment practice at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent.
First singing lessons brought her to Martine Reynders and Serge Wilfart, with whom she followed Wilfart method (Pneumophony) which was a first access to body work in which breath is central.
As a dramatic mezzo she perfected her skills with Zeger Vandersteene, Gidon Saks, Lubov Stuchevskaya and finally with Tom Krause in Hamburg. Central was always the search for breath and inner health. As a solo vocalist, she participated in productions by Walpurgis, Peeping Tom, Lod, Koudvuur and Scoppio di Vesuvio, both in Europe and South America.
Now she follows yoga with Johan De Backer and Tai chi / Taoist body massage with Prof. Dan Vercammen and is actively associated with Center Olm, Center for Development of Body and Music.
Since 1995 she teaches guitar at Music Academy de Kunstbrug and has been invited several times to teach relaxation techniques, a.o. at Vlamo guitar day.
As a singer and guitarist, Helena De Beul can be heard in the Astorguitar ensemble https://www.facebook.com/AstorGitaarensemble.
