Wim Bex

After a dozen years of freelance playing with just about all Belgian and some foreign orchestras, he was permanently employed as bass trombonist with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra in Maastricht since 2009. Since the merger with the Brabant Orchestra in 2013, the orchestra is now called "philharmonie zuidnederland".
In 2008, he wrote his first composition Vademecum for Bass Trombone, at the request of and recorded by Geert De Vos.
Due to the many positive reactions to this work, composing soon gained momentum and solo works for tenor trombone, trumpet and bass tuba followed, among others, all already recorded on CD.
The most important teachers in his musical career are Ludo Verjans, Michel Tilkin and Wim Henderickx. In addition to a natural and logical view of a musical score, they taught him above all that music should be approached with an open and positive mind, entirely at the service of 'the story behind the notes'.
