Frank Tomme
Frank Tomme was born in Oudenaarde on October 29, 1959, and passed away in 2015. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music (KMC) in Ghent in 1983, where he earned several first prizes, including saxophone and the Higher Diploma in Chamber Music. Subsequently, he served as an instructor at the institution, specializing in chamber music and music pedagogy. He was also part of the pioneering group that established the current jazz department.
Following his studies, he dedicated himself more to "commercial" music, swiftly becoming a versatile musician—proficient in saxophone, flute, clarinet, keys, guitar, and notably the accordion. He became a sought-after studio and live performer.
Influenced by his studio experiences, he increasingly focused on arranging and composing music, delving into both serious and "light" genres. His work quickly gained recognition from both musical directions.
In addition to his role as a saxophone and Instrumental Ensemble teacher at the Academy for Artistic Formation in Ronse, he contributed to various long-term projects, such as Els De Schepper's theatrical production "Aaibaarheidsfactor N°7."
