Guy Pruvost
Guy Pruvost (born 1960) began his music studies in the Hauts de France at the Conservatoires of Saint-Omer and Douai. He then continued his studies at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.
He built a musical career in various French Military Music Corps as a First Horn player: first in the Music Chapel of the 43° Infantry Regiment of Lille in 1980 for the National Service, then from 1981 to 1986 in the Main Chapel of the Marine Troops and from 1986 to 2003 with the Musique de la Région Aérienne Méditerranée. Meanwhile, he was also active as a horn player in various musical formations such as the Quintette à vent de Provence and the Provence Brass Band (jazz). From 2003 to 2018, he was head of the music library of the Musique de l'Air de Paris.
He started writing music self-taught, first for the "Batterie Fanfare" music formations in the 90s with a consuming passion for this art. Since his retirement he has been composing more specifically for wind orchestras and has already written concertante pieces such as "Hornissimo" for horn and orchestra, a "Fantaisie espagnole" for horn quartet and orchestra and various works for brass ensembles ranging from quintets to large ensembles.
