Bart Picqueur

photo PicqueurBart_1Bart Picqueur is a versatile Belgian musician, initially trained as a classical clarinetist and now thriving as a composer and conductor. His focus lies primarily in music for concert bands, alongside compositions for choir and orchestra.

Graduating with distinction from the Conservatory of Ghent, Picqueur earned his Master's in Music with an emphasis on wind and brass band conducting under the tutelage of Dirk Brossé in 1996. In 1997, he added a Master's in Music specializing in clarinet under Freddy Arteel's guidance, along with an aggregation diploma. He furthered his studies in orchestral conducting with Fabrice Bollon.
 
As a composer, Picqueur achieved success with musicals such as "Devil's Paradise" (1997) and "Jan Praet" (2000), the latter being the first original musical composed for a concert band. Additionally, he composed the music for the documentary "As Long as Shipbuilders Sing" (1998). His composition "A Froghitters' Fantasy" clinched the audience prize at the international composition competition of the EMJ in Neerpelt.
 
Bart Picqueur is highly active as an arranger, working with classical and popular music alike. His arrangements have graced performances by renowned artists, including Rob De Nijs, Raymond van het Groenewoud, Paul Michiels, Marco Bakker, Ernst Daniel Smit, Berget Lewis, Antonio Di Palma, Hans Peter Janssen, An Lauwerijns, and many others. His expertise extends to collaborations with Dirk Brossé, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Public Theatre, the Remuze Festival, Hasselt Proms, and numerous wind bands in Belgium and the Netherlands.
