Joos Creteur studied at the Lemmensinstitute at Leuven.
There he obtained a first prize for music theory and graduated Laureate clarinet (Jos Wijnen) chamber-music (Paul Dombrecht, Hans Mannes and Paul Beelaerts) and obtained a first prize written harmony (Paul Steegmans). Later he also obtained his master-degree for the clarinet.
Professionally he's a teacher at the "Stedelijke Kunstacademie" in the city of Waregem. He teaches clarinet and chamber-music and also ensemble-playing.
He was a former member of the ebonyquartet, a clarinet-quartet that played in Belgium and abroad. This quartet was specialized in contemporary music. Even now he takes every chance to play the clarinet on a stage, being it as a soloist, in chambermusic or in a wind-band. Joos is also conductor of the wind-band of Ingooigem and Anzegem. Furthermore, he plays the clarinet in some more bands.
With his compositions, Joos tries to make music that is pleasant to play and to listen to, but is also
rich enough to interest the pupils of the music-schools.
