Bart Leys
Bart Leys, born in 1983, took his initial musical steps at the Academy for Music and Word in Wetteren, where he received instruction in music theory from Francine van Alboom and Brigitte Pavlik. He began learning saxophone under the guidance of Chris Denys.
At the age of 15, Bart transitioned to the Kunsthumaniora in Ghent, where he continued his saxophone studies with Raf Minten and Koen Maas. It was during this period that he developed a passion for composing and conducting.
After graduating from the Kunsthumaniora in 2002, Bart pursued his education at the conservatory, where he studied under Willy Demey and Rik Vaneyghen for three years, before returning to Raf Minten and Koen Maas in his final years before graduating in 2009. Alongside his saxophone studies, Bart also delved into composition and conducting under the mentorship of Dirk Brossé and Wim Belaen.
Currently, Bart serves as a music theory and saxophone instructor at the Academy for Music and Word in Wetteren. He is actively engaged as a conductor in various orchestras and ensembles, while also pursuing his career as a composer.
