Nederlands Pierre Liémans
Born in Braine-le-Comte on 27 January 1961, Pierre Liémans begins his musical studies at the local music school, where he successively obtains the medals for piano and chamber music studies. At first he continues his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Liège, where he obtains a first prize in music theory. The next year, he continues at the Conservatory of Mons, where he then obtains different qualifications for piano, organ, chamber music, written harmony, accompaniment, and practical harmony. In 1983 and 1984 he took part in the seminar B. Bartok with maîtres Zempleny and Sebok.
Since 1992 he has devoted himself to composition and created many pieces for piano, chamber music (trios, sonatas and quartets) and also wrote a work for choir, organ and orchestra, commissioned by the choir Lyricanto, led by Edmond and Jeanne Lhote.
Pierre Liémans is regularly asked as a pianist by the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Chamber Orchestra of Mons, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders, the Royal Band of the Belgian Guides and by internationally renowned artists such as José Van Dam, Walter Boeykens and Isabelle Kabatu. He is also a piano accompanist at various international competitions such as the ‘Torneo Internationale di Musica in Rome’ the international competition for saxophone ‘Adolphe Sax’ in Dinant and the competition ‘Pacem in Terris’ at Bayreuth.
He currently teaches piano at the Academy of Quaregnon and he is pianist-accompanist for the classes of saxophone, violin and clarinet at the Royal Conservatory of Mons. In 2004 he won the first prize in composition with the Sonata for clarinet and piano op. 22. On the ‘Internationales Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Rome.
