2 Elephants is the winning work of a composition competition organized by VerDi (the Association of Directors of Performing Arts and Arts Academies), and was awarded the "VerDi Hallmark" as a composition for accordion solo. This work is recommended for the second (formerly lower) grade, but of course can certainly be performed at the end of the third grade.
This work covers many facets of accordion playing: Standard Bass, Free Bass, Bellows shake, double chords, canon, etc.
A quiet, ponderous description of the elephants is followed by a canon, as the animals often walk in succession.
