Fulco Ottervanger

 

Fulco Ottervanger is a Dutch multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser. He started at the age of 7 on the cello, soon followed by piano, guitar, bass and drums. Since a young age, he writes his own songs and compositions. 
 His first piano teacher was Jozef Dumoulin. At the Conservatory of Ghent, he studied jazz piano with Erik Vermeulen and composition with Frank Nuyts. He is currently fronting the jazz trio 'De Beren Gieren' and the rock band Marvelas Something. Also plays and composes in Nathan Daems Quintet,  'BeraadGeslagen' (a duo with drummer Lander Gyselinck) and he is the singer of the metal group ShtGn.

Between 2009 and 2011 he was Artist in Residence at Venue association, the main organizer of the Ghent Festivities.In 2010 he gave a solo performance for the program of Absynthe Minded.That same year, 'De Beren Gieren' played on Ghent Jazz, they did a tour in Belgium and in 2011 they went into partnership with Arts Centre Forward to Bologna, as the ambassadors of the Creative City of Music Gent (UNESCO).
