Graupner based his Concerto in G Major GWV 329 on the Baroque church sonata design with its slow – fast – slow – fast movement sequence. Except in the second movement, the composer departs from the Italian formal model based on Vivaldi’s alternation of tutti ritornellos and solo episodes, however. Seinem Konzert in G-dur GWV 329 legt Graupner als äußeren Rahmen den Formtyp der barocken Kirchensonate mit der Satzfolge langsam – schnell – langsam – schnell zugrunde. Satzintern hingegen verabschiedet sich der Komponist aber weitgehend vom italienischen Formmodell in Sinn Vivaldis mit seinen virtuosen Episoden für das Soloinstrument (am ehesten erinnert noch der zweite Satz an das italienische Vorbild).
