Hedwig Swimberghe

 

Hedwig Swimberghe was born in Bruges and studied at the conservatory of his native city. He completed his studies at the Conservatory in Ghent with Jean Tastenoe and later in Berlin with Karl Leister. Swimberghe became laureate of several national and international competitions including the Maurice Van Guchte Price, Benelux Prize, the International Eindhouven Tromp Competition and the Concours International du Festival de Musique de Toulon. He has been soloist with the Flemish Radio Orchestra and Professor of Clarinet at the Erasmus university in Brussels Royal Music Conservatory Department. He is also a Faculty member "Julian Menendez International Clarinet Course and Festival (Hungary) and requested a jury member at national and international competitions.

In 1997 Hedwig Swimberghe the initiative for the establishment of the Brussels Clarinet Choir in the bosom of his clarinet class at the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels. The repertoire of the BCC includes both classic and contemporary, and there is ample attention to new work by Belgian composers.

Gilbert Isbin

Gilbert Isbin is a composer, improviser, guitarist and lutenist, residing in Brugge, Belgium. Hailed as “one of the most enthralling avant-classicists around” (Musings.com), and lauded for his ingenuity, finesse and masterful  technique” (All  About Jazz), Isbin has been compared to Ralph Towner, Egberto Gismonti (Guitar Player), and John Fahey (All About Jazz).

He performs regularly as a soloist and with groups he co-leads, often performing his original music. His compositional and performing style defies genre, blending elements of modern jazz, contemporary classical musci and improvisation.

As a leader and co‐leader, he has recorded  more than 20 albums and has performed in festivals and major venues throughout Europe and the US with Cameron Brown, Joe Fonda, Scott Walton, Jeff Gauthier, Vinny Golia, Ernst Reijseger, Iep Fourier, Michel Godard, Jatinder Thakur, Hugh Hopper, Wolfgang Reisinger, John Ruocco, Andre Goudbeek, Jaap Blonk, Geert Verbeke, Sandro Di Stefano, Sandor Szabo, Balazs Major, Chris Joris, Bruce Arnold, Christian Vasseur, Iain Cameron, Lieven Misschaert and Kevin Kastning, among others.

His current porjects : as a solo lutenist or in duo with Scott Walton (lute and bass), with Kevin Kastning (lute and alto guitar), with Iain Cameron,

His compositions, appr. 200 thus far, are published by Berben Ediziones Musicales, The UK Lute Society, Lantro Music, Golden River Music, Kameleon Editions and Auurk Ed. They have been performed by a.o. the guitarquartet Four Times A Lady, Quartetto Chitarristico Italiano, the Spectra Ensemble,De Camer van Musiecke, lutenists Stuart Walsh,(UK), Andrés Bonilla (Argentina).

Johan Joris

Johan Joris (°1953) is classically trained for piano, trumpet and percussion and specialized in Salsa and Latin-Jazz
He performed with the Cuban group Doble Impacto, Mexican ethno-jazz with Mezcal and is regularly asked to play with the Belgian group El Tattoo del Tigre.
He teaches Latin-ensemble at the Jazzstudio Antwerp and gives master classes at different conservatories. He also offers clinics for Latin percussion.
Johan Joris is the author-composer of various methods and released the following cd:

Sofie Bauwens

Sophie Bauwens began at age seven piano training at the Academy for Music and visual arts in Hamme. She got five years teaching of Jan Van Elsacker and is now its eighth year teaching at Els Swinnen. In 2005 she obtained her degree and higher degree, she enrolled at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven. There she won her first prize solfege and follows her fourth year she is currently music.

Since 2006 she is the pianist of permanent choir Canta Tille and assists them active conductor(s).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ronny Plovie

Ronny Plovie, born in Varsenare on April 22, 1958, studied at the Municipal Music Conservatory of Bruges and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, where he won a first prize in music theory. Further studies at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels resulted in first prizes for harmony, practical harmony and organ, besides teaching certificates for music theory and organ. He trained himself further at the Maastricht Conservatory and attended seminars in North German keyboard music by Harald Vogel. At the Royal Conservatory in Ghent, he obtained a first prize harpsichord and chamber music, Early Music Department. Meanwhile, he is master of music.

He won the first prize for early music at Peer and the Arnold Prize for organ in Brussels. He played on radio recordings for the BRT and the RTBF and is a laureate of the foundation M.E. Horlait-Dapsens and Live Music Now. He has given concerts both at home and abroad. He was 15 years practical harmony teacher at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent. He studied Gregorian chant in French Mariman and Dr.A.Kurris. He was from 1991 teacher at the "Centre Gregorian". Ronny Plovie was teacher of organ, harpsichord and accompaniment in Wilrijk, Bornem and Sint-Niklaas. He is currently director of the academy of music and word art in Antwerp (Berchem).
